It is true that in the secular world music is more to entertain than for anything else, there, the music is to express frustrations, to elevate the ego, to speak morbid things; and in this way the masses are kept entertained, giving them what they want.
Now let’s talk about Christian music, what is Christian music supposed to be for? Should it be to entertain people and give them what they want? It is very unfortunate that today many Christian music producers take it from that side and want to link it to the world of entertainment. When do we notice that? When the music is only drums, guitar and piano, but we do not see anything that glorifies God. Here we are not talking about musical genres, rather, we are talking about Christian music should be only and exclusively to worship God and to build lives.
Everything we do in the Christian life must be to give glory to God, because the Bible tells us again and again:
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31
Christian music is not entertainment, and in the Bible it was never an entertainment. We must write and sing music that glorifies God and not do the same thing that they do in the secular world: “Making music for the masses and rotting society”. We have been called to save lives and today we need a lot of songs with a high biblical content, but this is only achieved by understanding that what we do is for God.
