Instead of going to the carnival, ten thousand young people worship God

On these dates, carnival is celebrated in some parts of the world, as is the case in Brazil, where one of the most mundane celebrations that can exist is held, since they make fun of Jesus and take sensuality to an extreme where it makes carnival a place not suitable for believers.

For many Christians, these festivities represent a time of reflection, because although they are culturally accepted and even promoted as innocent entertainment, the reality is that many of these celebrations exalt values that are completely contrary to what the Word of God teaches. Excess, immorality, mockery of what is holy, and the exaltation of the flesh are elements that are openly displayed, turning carnival into an environment that does not edify the spiritual life of those who seek to walk in holiness.

While millions of people are celebrating their carnival, the Sara Nossa Terra congregation located in Brasilia has decided to hold the Arena Jovem event, where some 10,000 young people have gathered there to take advantage of these days and deepen their Biblical knowledge.

This decision is not made lightly. In a world where young people are constantly pressured to conform to social trends, choosing to dedicate their time to seeking God is a powerful testimony. These young people are swimming against the current, showing that it is possible to enjoy fellowship, joy, and fulfillment without giving in to practices that do not glorify God.

Diez mil jóvenes prefieren adorar a Dios en vez de ir al carnaval

This activity is carried out every year, exactly on the same date as the carnival in Brazil. It is held every Saturday, either in the congregation or in some secluded place. They explain that the young people who meet there are not interested in anything related to the carnival, but prefer the move of God in their lives.

The Arena Jovem event has become a space of worship, teaching, prayer, and fellowship. Instead of loud music that promotes excess, there are songs of praise. Instead of alcohol and sensuality, there is prayer and genuine communion among brothers and sisters in Christ. These gatherings remind us that true joy is not found in fleeting pleasures, but in a relationship with God that transforms the heart and mind.

Many of the young people who attend testify that these meetings strengthen their faith and help them remain firm in their convictions. In an age where distractions abound and moral values are increasingly diluted, spaces like this become spiritual refuges where the presence of God is prioritized above all else.

The Lord’s church does not have to participate in these types of activities where the carnal is clearly promoted. God bless these young people and this powerful feeling.

This initiative also serves as an example for other congregations around the world. Instead of simply criticizing what is happening outside, the church can offer healthy, edifying alternatives that lead people closer to Christ. These 10,000 young people demonstrate that when God is presented as the center of life, many are willing to choose Him over anything else.

May this testimony encourage believers everywhere to stand firm in their faith, to seek God wholeheartedly, and to remember that being different from the world is not a burden, but a privilege that brings eternal reward.

Choosing God in moments where the world offers temporary pleasures is a clear sign of spiritual maturity. These young people are not rejecting joy or celebration, but rather redefining it according to biblical principles. Their decision shows that following Christ is not about missing out, but about gaining a deeper purpose, a clean conscience, and a joy that does not depend on circumstances but on the presence of God in their lives.
