This film shows the rise and fall of a couple of TV evangelists

Tammy Bakker and Jim Bakker were an evangelical couple in the 1970s and 1980s in the United States, and they both wielded enormous influence through the organization called Praise the Lord (PLT).

The televangelists had prosperity preaching as their theology and with their foundation they became millionaires by raising about 130 million dollars each year, thus reaching about 13 million homes every day through the media.

And we will be able to learn more about this story, as a film will soon be released that will tell their story, where Jessica Chastain and Andrew Garfield will play Tammy and Jim Bakker.

How did you both achieve such financial success? This was mainly due to the charismatic and kind person of Tammy, who when asking for donations did it so sadly, inviting those who were waiting to open their hearts to Jesus.

This success had its downfall, as complaints of sexual harassment came and the public ministry also began to do other investigations into the really expensive life that evangelists had, and all this was the step for everything to begin to fall apart.

The film would be titled “The Eyes of Tammy Faye”, which is inspired by the documentary directed by Fenton Bailey and Randy Barato and will hit theaters on September 17, 2021. In addition to the actors mentioned above, we will also see the participation of Fredric Lehne and Cherry Jones.
