Great is God, and worthy of being greatly praised

Psalm 48 was written by the sons of Korah as well as other psalms that we have already named before. This psalm explains the greatness of God and it shows the joy of exalting God with the one who writes, so possibly this is a Psalm of joy dedicated to God.

The people of Israel, the sons of Korah, had plenty of reasons to worship God and give Him praise. We also have many reasons to worship God, for certainly God has been good to us, from that moment that gave us salvation, plus everything He does for us on a day-to-day basis. We glorify God for His greatness.

The psalmist said:

1 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.

2 Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.

3 God is known in her palaces for a refuge.

Psalm 48:1-3

Great is the Lord says the psalmist. Truly the Lord is great and we find that since we read the creation of the world in the book of Genesis, how God created everything. We also see throughout the Bible great works done by our God, because there is no one like Him.

By His greatness, by all His mighty works He is worthy in a great way. Look closely at the expression “greatly”. Truly there is no way to give the greatest praise to God, because humanly we are small, but the truth is that we should praise God in a great way.

Think of everything God has done for you and praise Him for His greatness.
