A true worshiper needs to give praise to the Lord

On one occasion, when Jesus talked with the Samaritan woman about the right place of worship, Jesus tells her:

23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

John 4:23-24

A true worshiper has the need to worship and give praise to God, it is a growing desire that a true worshiper must have, since was created for that. As Jesus says: “must worship”.

In other articles we have written about the importance of praise, that we were born to worship God, that this is our great purpose and that if we have somehow lost that desire we must go before God and ask Him to restore us.

Below we will see an example of what is called a true worshiper who understands that was created to the praise of our God:

1 As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?

3 My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?

4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.

5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.

6 O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.

7 Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.

8 Yet the Lord will command his lovingkindness in the day time, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.

9 I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

Psalm 42:1-9

This great psalm, possibly one of the most famous in the book of Psalms, was written by the sons of Korah. They were in exile at that time, they were far from the temple, far from the house of God, and in this prayer they are expressing their anguish for not being in the house of God worshiping Him and giving praise.

It may be a curious thing that they are disturbed to be far from the house of God, but, the truth is that this should not be curious, because a true worshiper should always feel a desire to worship God, should always have that need to give praise to Good.

They were not afflicted because they lacked bread, water or clothing, they were afflicted because they were far from the house of God.

O beloved brothers, how many of us have felt sorry for being away from the house of God? May our desire to want to worship God never be less than that of the children of Korah, since we were born to give praise to our God.
